The Sunday before race day carries a certain feeling. A mix of nerves, excitement, and quiet confidence after months of work. On April 26, just one week out from the Vancouver Marathon, our community came together to share in that moment.
To kick things off, we hosted a 14km group run alongside ASICS, giving runners the chance to test some of their latest footwear in real time. For many, it marked the final long run of their marathon build. For everyone, it was a reminder of why we show up.
The Run
We rolled out Sunday morning under ideal spring conditions. The pace was steady and the energy was high. Conversations carried just as much momentum as the legs. Groups formed, split, and came back together in a rhythm that felt familiar to anyone deep into training.
This was not about splits or structure. It was about shaking out the legs, settling the mind, and enjoying the process one last time before race week.
The Shoes
Runners had the opportunity to rotate through three standout models from ASICS:
Novablast 5
Lightweight, responsive, and built for everyday training. A go to for runners looking for bounce without sacrificing control.
Superblast 3
High stack and high energy. Designed for longer efforts where cushioning and propulsion matter most.
Megablast
A more maximal option, delivering a soft and protective ride that felt especially welcome in the later kilometers.
Each shoe offered a different experience. Some runners leaned toward responsiveness while others preferred comfort. Everyone left with a better sense of what they want underfoot heading into race day.
Community First
More than anything, the morning was about people. Familiar faces, new introductions, and a shared understanding of what it takes to reach this point in a training cycle.
There is something grounding about showing up together before a big race. It brings things back to what matters. Movement, connection, and the simple act of putting one foot in front of the other.
Looking Ahead
With the Vancouver Marathon just days away, this run felt like a collective exhale. The work is done. What remains is to trust it.
To everyone who joined us, thank you for being part of it. We will be cheering you on next weekend.
