Peak Performance was founded in 1986 in Åre, Sweden by three ski racers — Stefan Engström, Peter Blom and Christer Mårtensson — who believed ski kit should be both technically honest and genuinely good looking. From a single shop in a mountain town at the 63rd parallel, the brand grew into Scandinavia's most recognisable mountainwear name. HQ moved to Stockholm in 1999; Amer Sports acquired the brand in 2018 (alongside Arc'teryx, Salomon, Atomic), and the line is led by President Stefano Saccone from April 2025. The Åre maxim still holds: if it can handle Åre, it can handle anything.
Helium Down Vest — the Peak Performance Helium line distilled to its minimum. 700FP RDS-certified duck down, 42gsm recycled-polyamide ripstop, wavy-line quilt, made without intentionally added PFAS. The vest goes where the jacket is too much: cold-morning runs with warm arms, mid-layer core insulation under a HIPE shell, cool-evening walks after the ride. The Utility version adds burlier pocket detail for pack-straps and trail use. The Helium Down Vest — the line stripped to core warmth, arms free.
