Peak Performance was founded in 1986 in Åre, Sweden by three ski racers — Stefan Engström, Peter Blom and Christer Mårtensson — who believed ski kit should be both technically honest and genuinely good looking. From a single shop in a mountain town at the 63rd parallel, the brand grew into Scandinavia's most recognisable mountainwear name. HQ moved to Stockholm in 1999; Amer Sports acquired the brand in 2018 (alongside Arc'teryx, Salomon, Atomic), and the line is led by President Stefano Saccone from April 2025. The Åre maxim still holds: if it can handle Åre, it can handle anything.
The Helium Hybrid jackets take the core-insulated logic further — down quilting on the chest, hood and back where warmth counts, then side panels swapped out for 271 gsm brushed flat-fleece so the jacket breathes and stretches with movement. Warmer than fleece, lighter than a full puffer, built for fast and cold: trail running, resort parking lots, early-winter commutes. Shell is recycled polyamide; fleece panels are 94% recycled polyester with 6% elastane. Made without intentionally added PFAS.
