Women's Freelight Alpha Hood

Peak Performance was founded in 1986 in Åre, Sweden by three ski racers — Stefan Engström, Peter Blom and Christer Mårtensson — who believed ski kit should be both technically honest and genuinely good looking. From a single shop in a mountain town at the 63rd parallel, the brand grew into Scandinavia's most recognisable mountainwear name. HQ moved to Stockholm in 1999; Amer Sports acquired the brand in 2018 (alongside Arc'teryx, Salomon, Atomic), and the line is led by President Stefano Saccone from April 2025. The Åre maxim still holds: if it can handle Åre, it can handle anything.

Freelight is Peak Performance's trail/run active-insulation layer, built around Polartec® Alpha™ Direct — 85 gsm open-knit fleece that insulates and breathes at once. That means high-output warmth for running, fast hiking, cool-morning starts, without the clammy feeling of a sealed puffer. Light, quick-drying, partially wind-resistant.
