On was founded in 2010 in Zurich by Olivier Bernhard — a former Ironman and duathlon world champion, together with David Allemann and Caspar Coppetti. Bernhard prototyped the first CloudTec sole by gluing cut sections of garden hose to the bottom of a running shoe; the hollow rubber pods compressed on landing and locked firm for push-off, and the idea scaled. The brand still runs its R&D out of Zurich and has been listed on the NYSE since September 2021.
The Women's THE ROGER ADV Pro comes from a different branch of that story: THE ROGER family, On's design partnership with Roger Federer. It is a court-inspired lifestyle sneaker on CloudTec cushioning rather than a running shoe — clean lines for everyday wear, with Federer's name behind the design instead of a marathon on the calendar. The ADV Pro is the higher-spec build in the Advantage family.
