Women's Cloudsurfer Max

On was founded in 2010 in Zurich by Olivier Bernhard — a former Ironman and duathlon world champion — together with David Allemann and Caspar Coppetti. Bernhard had prototyped the first CloudTec sole by gluing cut sections of garden hose to the bottom of a running shoe; the hollow rubber pods compressed on landing and locked firm for push-off, and the idea scaled. The brand still runs its R&D out of Zurich and has been listed on the NYSE since September 2021.

The Cloudsurfer Max stacks a second layer of CloudTec Phase pods beneath the first and drops the Speedboard, replacing it with pure rocker geometry. The result is On's softest-riding, most insulated-from-the-ground daily shoe in this lineup — heavier at 292 g but built for long-run comfort, recovery jogs, and runners who prefer a muted underfoot feel without going to a full super-foam race platform.
